Possibly Marriage

The board of governors of B'nai B'rith International
and the executive board of B'nai B'rith Women voted
Monday to resume negotiations toward a full merger of
the two organizations. According to the resolution
adopted in Washington, D.C., a joint planning commit-
tee will be formed to work out a solution that provides
for "full equality" and "joint responsibility."
The joint planning committee has been given a
December deadline for its initial report, and has been
asked to submit its final report by February 1986.
According to one source at the meeting, B'nai B'rith
International and B'nai B'rith Women "decided it would
be in their best interests" to renew negotiations. The
men and the women reportedly suspended their respec-
tive task forces studying separation of the two organiza-
tions, and the women have canceled their June 7 dele-
gate assembly in Chicago and all future town hall meet-
ings.
