AL HARRISON LUGGAGE OUTLET
A Diamond...
The gift that outshines
all the rest
with the extermination of six
million Jews because, as he
put it, 'Who still talks nowa-
days about the extermination
of the Armenians?' And in
April 1945, exactly 30 years
after the Armenian genocide,
allied forces liberated the
death camps of Nazi Germany.
"And exactly 30 years after
that, in April 1975, came the
fall of Southeast Asia and the
beginning of the reign of terror
in Cambodia that destroyed
over one-fourth of the Cambo-
dian people. A new generation
— a new genocide. . . . If the
civilized world continues to be
silent, this cycle of horrors will
go on repeating itself over and
over again."
Governor Deukmejian has
grasped the point that some-
how eluded his friend in the
White House. Congress should
approve the resolution.
There must never be silence
when inhumanities are commit-
ted. There must not be forgetful-
ness in dealing with crimes, even
— and especially — when they are
on a large national scale. There-
fore, the recollection of what hap-
pened to the Armenians must be
as effective as any Holocaust.
Whatever the occasion...maybe no occasion
at-all. There's no other way to say so much,
so completely. A diamond dazzles her with

RA Urged
Washington (JTA) — Hart Has-
ten, president of the Herut
Zionists of America, called on the
Rabbinical Assembly of America
(RA) last week to repeal its reso-
lution barring the 51 Knesset
members, who voted to change Is-
rael's Law of Return so that the
validity of Reform and Conserva-
tive conversions would not have
been accepted, from appearing at
Conservative synagogues.
"We believe that this recom-
mendation of the Rabbinical As-
sembly, if implemented, will
serve only to cause deep and
dangerous divisions" between the
various branches of Judaism,
Hasten said.
The resolution adopted by the
international organization of
Conservative rabbis said the 51
Knesset members who voted for
the amendment, which was de-
feated, are "not welcome as
speakers or honorees in the 850
Conservative synagogues which
they have sought to discredit."
The supporters of the amendment
were members of the religious
parties and Likud, including
Herut Cabinet ministers Yitzhak
Shamir, David Levy, Moshe
Arens and Ariel Sharon.
