ZOA Fund Benefits
Ethiopian Jews

The Metro Detroit District-
Zionist Organization of America
is participating in a ZOA Fund to
assist in the absorption of the
newly arrived Ethiqpian Jewish
children in Israel, announced
Leonard Herman, president of the
Detroit District.
The fund will be used to pur-
chase books for libraries, educa-
tional games for play groups and
sports and recreation equipment.
The materials will be made avail-
able to the Multi-Purpose Clubs,
which are opening up in or near
absorption centers for Ethiopian
Jews in Israel, with which the
ZOA has a close working relation-
ship.
The fund is headed by Ivan J.
Novick, chairman of the ZOA na-
tional board.

Art Festival
Starts Today

"Festival '85", Southfield's an-
nual arts-fest, will be held today -
Sunday at the Southfield Civic
Center Plaza and Pavilion.
Hours are 6-10 p.m. today, 10
a.m. - 10 p.m. Saturday and 11
a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission
and parking are free.

OP Health Fair

A free health fair for adults and
children accompanied by a parent
will begin Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at
Clinton School, 22180 Parklawn,
Oak Park. It is sponsored by the
Oak Park Advisory Health Coun-
cil.
The tests offered include blood
sugar, blood pressure, vision
screening and hearing screening.

tion at Wayne State University
and the university department of
United Jewish Appeal will co-
sponsor a three-week traveling
seminar in Israel June 9-July 2.
The "Explore the Land" semi-
nar is designed for college stu-
dents and will be led by WSU
Hillel Director Rabbi Louis Fin-
kelman. Students will tour major
historical and archeological sites
and will sit in on special political
and military briefings.
