Dr. Eli Brown, chief of anes-
thesiology at Sinai Hospital, will
speak on "Living Beyond Pain" at
1 p.m. Tuesday in the assembly
hall of the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Branch of the Jewish Community
Center.
The talk, sponsored by the
senior adult department, will be
followed at 11 a.m. May 28 in
room 15 of the Morris Branch, by a
workshop entitled, "Ask About
Your Pain."
All senior adults are invited
free of charge. The program is
supported by a grant from Area
Agency on Aging, 1-B.
The senior adult Israeli movie
series will feature Shavuot and
This Year in Jerusalem at 2 p.m.
Tuesday in the assembly hall of
the JPM Branch. Admission is
free.
A theater trip to see The Sun-
shine Boys is planned for Wednes-
day, leaving at 1 p.m. from the
Morris Branch. There is a fee. For
details, call Helen Singer, 967-
4030.
Senior Citizens Day will be
marked at the JPM Branch
Thursday. Beginning at 8:15 a.m.,
the seniors will join other Oak
Park senior adults for a morning
of visits to the Oak Park Schools.
An intergenerational Shavuot
program is scheduled for 12:30
p.m. May 24 in the assembly hall
of the Morris Branch.
The nursery school children
will join the senior adults in a
Shavuot program. Seniors will
give symbolic Sifrei Torah to the
children. Shavuot songs will be
sung.
Following the Shavuot pro-
gram, Sharon Schwartz will give
a lecture at 1 p.m. on "The World
of Isaac Bashevis Singer."

Civic Group
To Compete

Oakland County civic organiza-
tions will compete in the Associa-
tion for Retarded Citizens/
Oakland County's sixth Annual
Civic Stars event on Sunday at 2
p.m. at the Beechwood Recreation
Center, 22200 Beech Rd., South-
field.
