Akiva Hebrew Day Sahool
Nursery will have an open house
at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Parents
and children are invited to visit
the school and facilities and meet
the staff.
The nursery school offers
Judaic and general studies. The
classes are staffed by two
teachers, a Judaic studies teacher
and a general studies teacher.
Through play, art, cooking, dance
and song, language development
and reading readiness are
stressed. Field trips and school
visitors are frequently scheduled.
Weekly music classes and use of
the school library are also in-
cluded.
Daily experiences with Jewish
customs and ceremonies and a
weekly Shabbat party are in-
cluded in the program.
Akiva Nursery offers flexible
scheduling to meet the needs of
the child (full-day, half-day
and/or combinations thereof).
Lunch supervision is available,
and no reservation is required.
Akiva Hebrew Day School also

editor of the Southfield Eccentric,
received three awards at the re-
cent communicator's conference
of Women in Communications,
Inc., in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Mrs. Iden received a first place
prize for a story on Avital
Shcharansky. She received a sec-
ond place honor for coverage of
Oakland County's first test-tube
baby, and another second place
prize for page design for her sec-
tion.

will celebrate its 30th anniver-
sary in a musical program at 8
p.m. June 10 at Cong. Beth
Shalom.
The society, under the direction
of Dr. Morton Gold and accom-
panied by Rochelle Barr, is a
group of 25 women who have
studied and performed choral
music for the local Jewish com-
munity for the last 30 years.
The public is invited free of
charge.
