Christian View
Of Israel Discussed

The Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish-Christian Studies and the
Metro Detroit District of the
Zionist Organization of America
will sponsor a lecture at 7:30 p.m.
May 21 at North Congregational
Church, 26275 Northwestern
Hwy., Southfield. Admission is
free to the public.
Rev. Isaac C. Rottenberg,
executive director of the National
Christian Leadership. Conference
for Israel since 1978, will speak on
"Christian Views of Israel: Is
Zionism Racism?"
After World War II, Rev. Rot-
tenberg studied law at the Uni-
versity of Leiden and later re-
ceived his degree in theology from
New Brunswick Theological Sem-
inary. Years of experience in
Christian-Jewish dialogue led
Rev. Rottenberg to an increas-
ingly activist role in matters per-
taining to the State of Israel and,
at times, to public disputes with
other Protestants and ecumenical
leaders concerning biased pro-
nouncements on the Middle East
situation..
Some of the co-sponsoring
organizations of the lecture in-
clude the Anti-Defamation
League, B'nai B'rith Metropolitan
Detroit Council -(Men and
Women), Cong. Saarey Zedek, the
Greater Detroit Round Table of
the National Conference of Chris-
tian-s and Jews, and the Jewish
Community Council of Metropoli-
tan Detroit.
For information, call the Ecu-
menical Institute for Jewish-
Christian Studies, 353-2434.
