Cong. B'nai Moshe will present
its 25th annual cantorial concert
on May 30 at 8 p.m. in the
sanctuary, according to Dr. and
Mrs. Melvyn Friedman, who co-
chair this year's concert commit-
tee.
Guest artists will be Canto Ed-
ward R. Fogel of Cong. Shaare
Emeth in St. Louis, Mo., and
Rabbi-Cantor Edward S. Feigel-
man, spiritual leader of Cong.
Shaar Hashomyim of Windsor,
Ont. They will join B'nai Moshe's
Cantor Louis Klein, the producer
of the concert, in a medley of
liturgical, Yiddish, Israeli and
operatic melodies.
The concert is free to the gen-
eral public. Costs will be under-
written by B'nai Moshe members
serving as patrons and sponsors.

Cong. B'nai Moshe will sponsor
its annual scholar-in-residence
program Saturday and Sunday.
This series is a memorial lecture-
ship commemorating the late
Rabbi Moses Lehrman.
Guest scholar will be Dr.
Jonathan D. Fishbane, principal
of Shaarey Zedek High School and
United Hebrew Schools. Dr.
Fishbane has been affiliated with
the faculties of Shaarey Zedek,
UHS and Midrasha for more than
ten years.
Dr. Fishbane received hs B.A.
and M.A. degrees from University
of Massachusetts, Amherst. In
1981, he received his Ph.D. degree
from the University of Michigan
in the field of European intellec-
tual history. He has published
numerous articles in scholarly
journals. His background in-
cludes research in French-Jewish
history and studies on anti-
Semitism.
On Saturday Dr. Fishbane will
present the sermon at morning
services and will continue his pre-
sentation at a p.m. lecture. The
topic of his talk on Saturday is
"Assimilation — A Historical and
Contemporary Problem." On
Sunday at 11 a.m. Dr. Fishbane
will discuss "Jewish Humor."
In addition to conducting
courses on history, he has taught
• a class on Jewish humor at Mid-
rasha.
There is no charge for the lec-
ture programs; however, for those
who wish to have luncheon on
Shabbat or -breakfast Sunday
morning, call the synagogue
office, 548-9000.
Workshop Conducted
Pat Schlossberg of the National
Federation of Temple Sisterhoods
will lead a workshop on "Parents
are Teachers Too" at 9:30 a.m.
May 18 at the Troy Jewish Con-
gregation, meeting at the Luthe-
ran Church of the Master, 3333

Physican Honored
Dr. Henry Small of Southfield is
among 69 physicians who were
graduated from medical school 50
years ago and were honored re-
cently by the Michigan State
Medical Society Saturday.
