Schools, Southfield Chamber of
Commerce plus dozens of area
businesses and corporations . . . is
sponsoring "Arts Festival '85" .. .
May 17-19 at Southfield Civic
Center on Evergreen.
It is Arts Council's major fun-
draiser, with all proceeds benefit-
ing grants and scholarships for
area art students and arts organ-
izations. . . . In past two years,
more than $15,000 has been
raised through this effort.
There'll be wood toys,
sculptures, graphics and mobiles
. . . ceramics, weaving,
watercolors, jewelry, oil paint-
ings, photographs, soft fabric
sculptures . . . stained, fused,
blown and engraved glass,
leather, enamels, calligraphy,
wearable fibers and baskets ..
Also clowns, jugglers, mimes and "
ethnic foods.
Jean Hollander, co-chairperson
with Phyllis Jose, is president of
the Southfield Arts Council .. .
Continuous entertainment will be
provided by Southfield Sym-
phony, Johnny Trudel and his Big
Band, Eddie Nuccilli Band plus
bands from the city's middle and
high schools . . . and a wide range
of ethnic dancers . . . Music will
appeal to all tastes . . . jazz, sym-
phonic, contemporary, country-
western and light classical.
Festival hours are Friday, 6-10
p.m.; Saturday, 10-10 p.m.; and
Sunday, 11-6 p.m. . . . Admission
and parking are free.

Barbaro . . . is pastry chef at The
Drake, Drake Rd. and Walnut.
"DANCE FEVER," WDIV-
TV's number one prime access
show, 7 p.m. Saturday evenings,
returns to Detroit to hold audi-
tions for local contestants . . . Pre-
liminaries are this Tuesday and
May 21 at Club Lallotte on
Groesbeck in Fraser, with final
audition May 29 . . . All begin at 8
p.m. . . . Winning couple will have
chance to compete on "Dance
Fever" in Hollywood at a later
date.
