LOVING IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO

BY Maurice Croll, M.D.

experience in conducting
youth exchanges. Previously,
it had conducted exchange
programs with Israel.
To date, Beth and Steve will
be joined on the trip by Lee
Babitch, Michelle Brown,
Nancy Fink, Craig Foster,
Steven Jasgur, Robert Levine,
Steven Morton, Julie Shan-
brom and Scott Werner.
The two said they hope that
the relationship they develop
with their German peers is
long-lasting.
"I want to be pen-pals," Beth
said. "I want to make it life-
long — a special friendship."
And, according to Steve, "It
will be too hard to let go." [1]

All things of no great import
That plague your daily life
Are lost in time and space
Without a cause,
When true love, eternal
Doth come your way.

Our daily life, no matter where
It turns, or leads, or
Twists us, into pathways
That bears down upon us
In a myriad of ways
That we cannot solve
At all,
No matter how we try.
Frustration shuts out joy
And we are once again
At odds with daily play.

And yet,
Upon the morrow,
Another day – another way
Perchance.
But in the meantime
Stress in full-force
Doth lessen not,
But daily mounts in magnitude,
And scars do manifest themselves
Upon the weary, haggard
Lines of face
In our daily stressful .
Routine.

Community, to our
people has always meant
more than the sharing of
common geographic boun-
dries. A shared goal, a
joint purpose and the
united efforts of com-
munal activity have main-
tained the vibrancy of
Jewish life throughout the
millenia. As an active
leader of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation of Detroit
I understand that concept
well. As a friend and sup-
porter of the Council of Or-
thodox Rabbis I see in
their work this very same
statement.

The Council of Orthodox
Rabbis of Greater Detroit
are unique. not only be-
cause they represent the
active involvement of the
united Orthodox commu-
nity, but because their

That speaks so gentle
And so soft
To sooth you – a pure,
Pure meaning,
That knows no equal
In our land –
With arms that hold you
Dearly,
Expressed with absolute
Delight,
That sharing, now comes
Unto you
In full-force – in full meaning
Of your woman,
True woman, unto you.
This is the real meaning
Of love – of life.
And now you know for sure
Loving is the only way to go.

How fortunate, but so very
Rare
Is the man, in all his
Virile truth
That can recognize
And partake
In full measure
As a part of him,
That loving, in truth
Is the only way to go.
If he can, in return,
Return and augment it
Tenfold
Unto his woman – who waits
For him.

Gone now are all these
Unmeaning things,
That are, indeed, a plague
To invest your torn up body
In acute distress.

Here in your own nestled
Home,
A loving, living creature,
From out this world,

ADDENDUM: There is no greater joy known upon this earth than a loving woman — a partner in your life in every aspect; a woman
who gives her all, in love is an extremely rare and precious jewel.
If a man can appreciate this in his woman: she is truly a jewel, to be loved daily, and most assuredly nightly. For
he is then the most fortunate of all humans, and he surely must know it, and then return it tenfold.

A Message to the Jewish Community

Judge Avern Cohn

But
When a part of you,
So loving,
Greets you at your door
When to your castle
You return,
Then all your daily chores
And stresses
Are suddenly blown away
With one sweet, enduring smile.
A gentle, sensitive caress.
A kiss
That reaches divinely
Unto your souls, unite
With pleasure beyond
All men
That shakes your weary
Body, thru and thru
In quite a different way;
So pleasurely, so lovingly
A language spoken with
Her lips that needs no
Words.

interests and endeavors
are on behalf of the entire
Jewish people. Our survi-
val as a nation viable and
ever growing, is their
foremost goal. Through
the eyes of communal
leadership, I have seen
first hand the efforts and
funds that they have ex-
pended in maintaining the
traditional lifeline of our
people. Their involvement
extends from the subsidi-
zation of kosher food serv-
ice certification at the
Jewish Community Cen-
ter and the local butcher
stores to their direct inter-
ests in the needs and prob-
lems of the individual
Jewish family. Their ac-
tivities cover every gamut
of Jewish life all in the sin-
cerest of hopes that the
maintenance of tradi-
tional Jewish values as
well as the -communal
support for the Jewish
family as an inviolable in-
stitution will keep the
promise of the external
existence of our people.

I am proud to be a sup-
porter of the Council of
Rabbis and their impor-
tant work. I urge all of you
who share these common
goals to join together with
our community leaders at
the banquet honoring the
Council, Monday evening,
May 20th at the Westin
Hotel ,as a strong state-
ment of our appreciation.
