Emanuel Zippori, consul gen-
eral of Israel to the Midwest,
will deliver the second lecture at
the B'nai David Cultural Forum
at 11 a.m. Sunday, at B'nai
David. The forum is entitled:
"Israel After Lebanon — Three
'Perspectives."
Consul General Zippori will

speak on "Healing Israel's
Economy: Diagnosis and Prog-
nosis."
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Zip-
pori spent the major portion of
his childhood and young adult
years in the Chicago area. He
served in the United States
Army during World War II. He
returned to Chicago where he
was graduated from the College
of Jewish Studies' and went on
to receive his Master of Arts de-
gree in political science from the
University of Chicago in 1948.
Throughout Consul General
Zippori's college years he was
very active in the Student
Zionist Organization; he was a
founder of the Intercollegiate
Zionist Federation of America
and a representative of Chicago
Youth Organizations on the
Zionist Actions Committee dur-
ing 1947-1948 — all of which
culminated in his aliyah in
1948.
He served in the Israel De-
fense Forces during the War of

Independence. After the war he
began his career in the Israel
Foreign Service.
He has since served, among
other places, as second secretary
in the Hague, as first secretary
in Tokyo, Japan, as counsellor of
Israel Embassy in Nigeria, and
as counsellor for economic af-
fairs in Rome, Italy, and was
permanent representative of Is-
rael to the food and agricultural
organization of the United Na-
tions, at the same time. In 1964,
Counsul General Zippori was
accepted from a select group to
participate in the Israel Na-
tional Defense College. His
latest assignment has been as
director of the department for
energy affairs in the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs.
Zippori's appearance has been
arranged by the cultural com-
mission of Cong. B'nai David,
chaired by Dr. and Mrs. Joseph
Orent.
The public is invited free of
charge.
