Since its opening on March 13,
The Precious Legacy exhibit at
the Detroit Institute of Arts has
been visited by more than 45,000
persons.
According to Janet Landay,
assistant curator, DIA depart-
ment of education, last Sunday
was a sell-out. Many schools have
visited the exhibition of Judaica
from the State Jewish Museum of
Prague. Among the exhibited ob-
jects are ritual items, artwork,
household utensils and other
pieces depicting the daily and
religious life of Czech Jewry over
the centuries.
Following its Detroit run,
which ends May 5, the exhibit will
go to the Wadsworth Atheneum in
Hartford, Conn. Hours are 9:30
a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Friday,

The Jewish Community Center
will present "The Parting," per-
formed by the Festival Dancers on
May 5 at 3 p.m. at the Center's
DeRoy Studio Theater. The ballet
will be presented as part of the
third Celebration of Jewish Dance
and Music, a memorial to the vic-
tims of the Holocaust.
The program also will feature
the young Russian concert pianist
Alexander Resin, Jewish folk
songs by Elaine Serling and the
reading of Pulitzer Prize-winning
poet, Nellie Sachs, by Carol
Lawrence.

Coming To Center

Two Exhibitions
Open At The Center

Two exhibitions will begin with
a reception at 8 p.m. Saturday at
the main Jewish Center.
The Maskit design house will
present enbroidered fashion,
handicrafts, giftware, jewelry and
carpets.
Sculptor Aharon Bezalel will
have his works displayed with the
Maskit designs through May 5.
