Harold S. Jaffa will be hon-
ored by B'nai B'rith Oakland
Century Lodge at the lodge's
annual tribute dinner on behalf
of State of Israel Bonds at 6
p.m. June 2 at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Jaffa, a long-time leader in
B'nai B'rith and other Jewish
and Israeli causes, will receive
the State of Israel's Freedom
Award.
Jaffa is currently serving his
third term as a national corn-
missioner of the Anti-
Defamation League of B'nai
B'rith. He is a member of the
B'nai B'rith Michigan Regional
Advisory Board and Cabinet and
is a past president of Metropoli-
tan Detroit B'nai B'rith Council
and the Harry B. Keidan Lodge.
He has been awarded many
tributes by B'nai B'rith, the
most recent being the B'nai
B'rith Foundation of the United
States' "Man of Vision" Award
in 1984.
Jaffa is a member of the local
executive board of the Jewish
National Fund and has been a
Shriner for more than 30 years.
He also has been active for the
Muscular Dystrophy Founda-
tion, the Jewish Welfare Feder-
ation, the American Red Cross,
the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Is-
rael, the Michigan Committee
for Handgun Control and the

American Friends of the Techn-
ion.

Jaffa
attended
Townsend-Harris Preparatory
School and City College in New
York, and the University of
Pittsburg, where he earned a
B.S. degree in business adminis-
tration. He is also a 1944

graduate of the U.S. Air Force
Navigation School and served as

squadron navigator and later as
an Air Force Reserve captain.
He has worked with the
Committee on Soviet Jewry and
recently was part of a delegation
that traveled to Moscow and
Leningrad.
