IT WAS BOBBY GAYNOR'S

22nd birthday . . . and parents
Fayanne and Hal Gaynor wanted
to celebrate . . . Two northwest
area restaurants lost out on check
for six people . and much more
in future business . . . to say noth-
ing of public relations . . . because
of shortsightedness.
First place Fayanne called to
ask if she could bring a Passover
cake, said they'd have to charge
her $2 per person because it would
necessitate serving . . . Fayanne
said she would serve it herself .. .
This restaurant gives expensive
cakes on people's birthdays .. .
but owner, according to Fayanne,
said charge would then be $1 to
wash forks and dishes . . . Second
place wanted to charge 50 cents
per person to wash the silverware
and dishes.
Principle had entered in since
Fayanne and Hal Gaynor are cus-
tomers (former ones now) at each
place . . . They took their business
to Joe Muer's . . . when gent by
name of Tom said "absolutely not"
when asked if there was a charge
for bringing the Passover cake .. .
Bill was $140 . . . Bobby Gaynor
had a happy birthday . . . and par-
ents Fayanne and Hal Gaynor
will return to Joe Muer's . . . but
not the other restaurants.
NEWEST CRAZE to hit town
is in the form of a Hungarian pas-
try . . . The Langos (pronounced
Lan-gosh), brought to this coun-
try by Fred,Regal . . . from Vie-
nna, Austria . . . As an executive
claef in Austria, Germany,
England, the Bahamas and
Jamaica, Regal decided to bring
Langos to these shores . . . intro-
ducing them in Minnesota, Wis-
consin and South Dakota . . . at
bazaars and state fairs where
ethnic food was popular.
Finally, in March of this year,
he opened up a Regal Langos cafe
in Tally Hall, Orchard Lake Rd.
and 14 Mile, amidst 30 other
ethnic food cafes.
The Regal Langos, which have
been somewhat Americanized .. .
consist of beef that is slightly
southern flavored, nearly soul .. .
flavored and stir-fried vegetables
. . . chicken . . . and seafood salad
Langos that seems to be the favo-
rite of so many . . . The Langos
desserts are made with apple,
