Dr. Charles G. Adams, pastor of
Hartford Memorial Baptist
Church in Detroit, will occupy the
pulpit of Temple Israel at Sabbath
Eve services at 8 p.m. today.
Dr. Adams will speak on
"Scrutiny of History." He will re-
peat the sermon at 11 a.m. serv-
ices at Temple Israel on Saturday.
Prior to the start of Saturday
services, members of the Hartford
Youth Group will plant a tree
near the entrance to the temple.

The Troy Jewish Congregation
and the Lutheran Church of the
Master will commemorate the
Holocaust on Sunday at 7 p.m. at
the Lutheran Church of the Mas-
ter, 3333 Coolidge, Troy.
The award-winning slide/audio
presentation, The Holocaust Re-
membered, will be shown. This
presentation gives a historical ac-
count of the Holocaust along with
interviews from survivors and
witnesses of the concentration
camps.
Members of the Lutheran
Church of the Master and the
Troy Jewish Congregation will
also re-enact events in Denmark
in 1943 when Danish Lutherans
rescued Jewish citizens. This re-
enactment is based on the service,
The Miracle of Denmark, which
was originated by Rabbi Maurice
Davis of White Plains, N.Y.
A social/fellowship will follow
the program.

Dr. Adams, selected by Ebony
magazine as one of the top black
preachers of 1984, is president of
the Detroit Chapter of the Na-
tional Association for the Ad-
vancement of Colored People
(NAACP).
A gradaute of the University of
Michigan, Dr. Adams holds a
Bachelor of Divinity Degree from
Harvard Divinity School and sev-
eral doctoral degrees.
He has been awarded numerous
honors and held dozens of posi-
tions both locally and on the na-
tional scene.
Dr. Adams is a columnist for the
Michigan Chronicle, a member of
the Alumni Council of Harvard
Divinity School, chairman of Op-
eration PUSH, member of the De-
troit Board of Zoning Appeals and
a board member of Goodwill In-
dustries.
