Jerusalem (JTA) — Seven Arab
students and one policeman were
injured in a clash at Ibrahimiya
College on the Mt. of Olives last
Thursday as unrest in the West
Bank spread to Jerusalem.
Border and regular police who
stormed the campus arrested 130
suspects in rock-throwing inci-
dents. The police came to the
scene after several dozen
student-demonstrators . bar-
ricaded themselves on the roof of a
building while others burned tires
and threw stones. There was addi-
tional stone-throwing and tire-
burning in the nearly Wadi Joz
area.
The unrest apparently was re-
lated to a commercial strike in
Arab East Jerusalem called to ex-
press solidarity with security
prisoners in the Ashkelon jail who
are on a hunger strike to protest
prison conditions.
Meanwhile, curfews imposed on
Ramallah and El Bireh last Sun-
day following the murder of a
Jewish settler, Zalman Nabulnik
in the Ramallah marketplace,

were partially lifted by week's
end. The Two West Bank towns
are adjacent. He was employed by
the El Bireh municipality which
is run by the Israel Defense Force.
Nabulnik was shot at point-
blank range. The killer escaped.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ronni
Milo visited Nabulnik's family
last week to offer sympathy on
behalf of himself and Foreign
Minister Yitzhak Shamir.

University Pact

Bonn (JTA) — A cooperation
agreement has been signed in
Jerusalem between the Hebrew
University and the Academic
Center for Jewish Studies at
Heidelberg University. It will
further the center7s bid for formal
recognition and may result, some
time in the future, in the issuance
of certificates of ordination for
rabbis at Heidelburg. The aca-
demic center is the only institu-
tion of its kind in a German-
speaking country.
