Ex-Mayor Dies

Tel Aviv — Karim Khalef, a
former mayor of Ramallah on the
West Bank, died Saturday of a
heart attack, Israel Radio re-
ported. He was 50 years old.(JTA)
— Mr. Khalef wasone of three
Palestinians mayors removed by
Israeli military authorities in
1982 because of their refusal to
recognize Israel's civil adminis-
tration on the West Bank. In
1980, the late Ramallah mayor
lost part of his foot in a car bomb-
ing allegedly perpetrated by a
Jewish underground group.
