GET WELL WISHES ... to
otherwise ill children . . . This has
always been the reason why so
many members of Crescent
Shrine volunteer a day to help
each year at the Shrine Circus .. .
March 28 was a disappointment,
though . . . "Budget cut" didn't
permit the usual taking of almost
1,500 crippled, ill and indigent
children . . . Total was only 475
. . . with club heads vowing this
will- never happen again.

WILL THE JEWISH inmates
at Jackson State Prison have
Passover Seder services this
weekend? . . . At this writing,
question still hasn't been resolved
. . . Response to column's plea for
monies after an inmate wrote us
that there wasn't enough in the
Jewish Inmates Fund, has been
more than enough . . . And legis-
lative persons like Tom Powers,
Maxine Berman, David Gubow,
Lana Pollack, Burton Leland and
Jack Faxon . . . plus Joe Forbes,
now director of the governor's
office for job training . . . have
come to bat in what appears to be
further obstacles.
Seems that Jackson Prison 'is
now broken up into three facilities
. . . minimum, medium (both for
trustees) and maximum (inside
the walls) security . . . each with
its own deputy warden, recreation
supervisor, etc. . . . Robert Brown,
director of corrections, has agreed
to have two separate Seders .. .
Maximum is having its own .. .
but the new Jewish chaplain in
Jackson, Rabbi Jeffrey Gale (four
months) refuses to conduct two
services . . . and says he put it up
to the prisoners as to which they
wanted . . . They agreed, he says,
to have just one.
The former prison chaplain,
Rabbi Irwin Tenenbaum had been
told months ago that ar-
rangements should be made for
separate Seders.
A court ruling upheld protest by
300 Moslem inmates who wanted
equal rights as the Jewish pris-
oners . . . It said that all religious
groups can practice their own
religion.
But the fact is that Passover
Seder is not a religious service .. .
and doesn't even have to be con-
ducted by a rabbi.
Also, food is not allowed to be
brought into the maximum secu-
rity sector . . . not even matzah,
which seems quite silly.
If the Jewish inmates at
Jackson State Prison do not have
Passover Seder this weekend . . . a
very thorough ,investigation
should be made!
It took an inmate at Jackson to
make us aware of what's going on
. . . and too bad this info was so
late in coming . . . For sure, there
wouldn't have been all this last-
minute hassle!
GET WELL WISHES ... to
Goldie Adler . . . recuperating
after stay at Sinai Hospital.
is
PARENTAL LOVE
brightly exemplified . . . by chil-
dren of Larry and Marilyn Crantz
thinking so much of them . . . that
they all came to live in Scottsdale,
Ariz. . . . Former localites Larry
and Marilyn were in town, re-
cently, bragging about their new
grandchild, Michael, born to
daughter Debbie and son-in-law,
gastronology specialist, Dr. Barry
Wiss.
Jackie, married to dental doc
Mark Kay, is doing TV commer-
cials there . . . Melinda is in senior
year of special education teaching
major at Arizona state U. .. .
David graduates high school and
will also attend Arizona State U.
Congrats . . . to Marilyn . . . on
her birthday.
