UMNS Of Yesteryears .. .
Aug. 6, 1948 . . . "Imagine

being in a strange country .. .
among strange people . and
suddenly running into someone
from back home . . . maybe a
friend, or an acquaintance . . . or
perhaps just some person who
went to the same school you did
. . . or ate at the same restaurants

lot . . . or knew some of the same
people you did.

Fink was crawling on his hands
and knees . . . pawing his way
forward . . . and touched a foot in
front of him that belonged to Rudy
Newman . . . buddy from back
home . . . In the same breath .. .
and seemingly ignoring the gun-
fire . . . they yelled out each
other's name . . . exclaiming,
`What're you doing here?' . . . al-
though the reasons are as count-
less as the desert sands.
"Two have recently returned
home . . . Fink and Sherell Gordon
. . . with many regards to friends
of those still fighting with the Is-
raeli Army . . . and a promise to
visit their parents . . . Joe served
