Ethiopian Jews Are. Topic
Of NCJW Meeting Thursday

Dr. Chaim Adler
Educator and sociologist, Prof.
Chaim Adler, director of the Na-
tional Council of Jewish Women
Research Institute for Innovation
in Education at the School of Edu-
cation of the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem, will address a meet-
ing of NCJW, Greater Detroit
Section on Thursday at 8 p.m. at
the NCJW office, 30233 South-
field, Suite 100, Southfield.
Dr. Adler will discuss the prob-
lems of absorption of Ethiopian
Jews into the mainstream of Is-

of the Research Institute's Ethio-
pian absorption program insti-
tuted in 1983.
During a leave of absence from
his position as chairman of the
graduate program in sociology of
education at Hebrew University
from 1967 to 1969, Prof. Adler was
a research associate of the Center
for International Affairs at Har-
vard University.
Soon after his return to Israel,
he was appointed to his present
post as director of the NCJW Re-
search Institutelby NCJW.
On the international scene,
Prof. Adler organized, coordi-
nated and helped conduct the first
international workshop on Home
Instruction Program for
Preschool Youngsters, an at-
home education program for dis-
advantaged 4-6-year-old children
in Israel.
Guests are invited free of
charge. Coffee and cake will be
served.
