Butz Speech
To Farrakhan
Group Revealed
New York — Arthur Butz,
author of a book which insists that
the Holocaust was a hoax put for-
ward by Jews themselves, was a
featured speaker at a convention
organized by Black Muslim leader
Louis Farrakhan last month, ac-
cording to the Anti-Defamation
League of B'nai B'rith (ADL).
Justin J. Finger, director of
ADL's Civil Rights Division, said
Butz' presence at the Interna-
tional Saviour's Day convention
Feb. 23-24 in Chicago, "gives the
lie to Farrakhan's claim that his
anti-Semitic statements during
the Rev. Jesse Jackson's U.S.
Presidential campaign were mis-
understood." In a speech before a
convention panel titled "Interna-
tional Zionism," Butz repeated
the Holocaust revisionist claims
contained in his book, The Hoax of
the 20th Century, Finger reported.
Butz, who teaches engineering
at Northwestern University, has
promoted the book before anti-
Semitic groups through the
United States since its publica-
tion in 1976.

-Up 13 Percent
Tel Aviv (JTA) — The cost of
living index rose by 13.5 percent
during February, the Central
Bureau of Statistics announced
last week.
The increase was as antici-
pated, due to price rises at the
interface between the first and
second economic package deals.
The bureau noted that the cur-
rent March COL calculations, al-
ready include an increase of be-
tween six and seven percent due
to the cutting of government sub-
sidies.
In subsequent months the Fi-
nance Ministry anticipates a re-
duction in the monthly increase to
single figure rises, indicating
what they claim is the success of
the economic package deal.
But both the Histadrut and the
Manufacturers have complained
that there is still much to be de-
sired in implementation and op-
eration of the agreements.
Employees will receive pay in-
creases of between 14 and 20 per-
cent with this month's salaries, to
be paid on April 1. The basic in-
crease will be 14 percent, with an
additional six percent granted to
industrial and production work-
ers.
Half of the February increase
was due to government initiatives
in raising service prices of fuel,
electricity and water.
