15. She leaves two daughters,
Mrs. Barbara Portnoy and Mrs.
Lewis (Sandra) Levitan of
California; a sister, Mrs. Jack
(Stella) Rosen of New York; and
three grandchildren.
JACOB BECKER, 88, died
March 20. He leaves his wife,
Sarra; a son, Dr. Robert; a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Erwin (Isabelle) Ziegel-
man; a sister, Luba Shafton of Ire-
land; four grandchildren and one
great-grandson.

ROSE BERGER, 97, died March
19. She leaves two sons, Herman
of Brazil, Ind., and Stanley of
Hawaii; a daughter, Mrs. Harvey
(Mary Frances) Slater of Naper-
ville, Ill.; grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Interment
Lafayette, Ind.

ELIZABETH HOCHMAN
BROWN, 87, died March 17. She
leaves two sons, David and Stan-
ley, both of New York; a sister,
Mrs. Henriette Gelb of Florida;
and four grandchildren.

JULIUS L. DANTO, 89, of
Southfield, died March 15. Sur-
vived by a son, Charles J.; a
daughter, Mrs. Samuel P. (Flor-
ence) Havis; seven grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.

MARIANNE DeBARR, 73,
former Detroiter of New York,
died March 16. She leaves a
daughter, Margo Mayor Milkes of
New York; and a sister, Mrs.
Samuel (Dorothy) Weinzager of
Detroit.

JEAN FAUDMAN, 81, of Oak
Park, died March 15. Survived by
three sons, Stephen T., Edmund
W. and Arnold; a sister, Mrs.
Molly Portin; six grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.

FRANCINE, 35, and JEFFREY
HALLABRIN, 5, died March 16.
She leaves a daughter, Melissa;
her parents Mr. and Mrs. Paul
(Shirley) Sabo; a brother, Robert
Sabo; three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth
(Michelle) Linden, Mrs. Stuart

Carol Berman, 74

Carol P. Berman, a member and
past president of Hanita Chapter
of Pioneer Women/Naamat, died
March 12 at age 74.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs.
Berman traveled throughout the
country organizing Pioneer
Women/Naamat chapters and
care centers. She was a member
and past president of the Greater
Detroit Section of the National
Council of Jewish Women. Mrs.
Berman was a volunteer at
Harper Hospital and a member of
its women's auxiliary.
She leaves a brother, Archie
Singer of Florida; a sister, Mrs.
Edyth Helper of Cleveland, Ohio;
three grandchildren, Betsy Be-
rman Perry, David Berman of Al-
buquerque, N.M., and Rebecca
Berman of Albuquerque, N.M.;
and one great-grandson. Services
noon today at Ira Kaufman
Chapel.

(Kim) Smith and Mrs. Howard
(Leslie) Weinberger; he leaves his
sister and his grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Sabo and
Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Lorraine)
Hallabrin.

ROSE FREEDMAN, 83, of
Southfield, died March 20. Sur-
vived by her husband, Sam.; a
daughter, Mrs. George (Florence)
Gantz; three grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.

MORREY HARRIS, 88, died
March 15. He leaves his wife,
Rosalie; two sons, Merle and
Alfred; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph
(Suzan) Orley; a brother, Charles;
and 12 grandchildren.

LEE HOWARD, 56, former De-
troiter of Willowdale, Ont., died
March 20. He leaves his wife,
Ashia; a son, Joshua; a daughter,
Alisa; and a brother, Mel of De-
troit.

SHIRLEY KIMMEL, 75, former
Detroiter of Glenview, Ill., died
March 15. She leaves her hus-
band, Samuel; a daughter,
Wendy; two sisters, Sylvia Fink
and Rose Fink, both of Oak Park.

ROSE KREISMAN, 77, of Oak,
Park, died March 15. Survived by
her husband, Samuel; a daughter,
Mrs. Andy (Lisa) Colton; three
grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren.

BEVERLY LAMBERT, 20, died
March 19. She leaves her mother,
Sharalyn Lambert; a brother, An-
thony; and grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph (Sylvia) Lambert.

ABRAHAM LESTER, 93, died
March 14. He leaves four daugh-
ters, Mrs. Alice Mason, Mrs. Doris
Taxe, Mrs. Ruth Lefkowitz
and Mrs. Lenore Miller; two
brothers, Jack and George, both of
Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Fay Be-
rman of Los Angeles, Calif., and
Mrs. Rose Good of Encino, Calif.;
14 grandchildren and ten great-
grandchildren.

JOSEPH MANIS, 90, of Detroit,
died March 16. Survived by a son,
Jerome G. of Honolulu, Hawaii;
two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Fay)
Helfer and Mrs. Fred (Frieda) Ru-
bin; eight grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.

MORRIS SAUL MEISNER, 70,
died March 14. He leaves his wife,
Ella; two sons, Anthony B. and
Morton of Chicago, Ill.; a brother,
Samuel; a sister, Mrs. Sidney
(Gertrude) Small; and three
grandchildren.

LESLIE MELTZER, 82, former
Detroiter of Los Angeles, Calif.,
died Feb. 24. Survived by his wife,
Belle; two sons, Irwin Meltzer and
Larry Gottlieb; a daughter, Joyce
(Lee) Shulman; four brothers,
Samuel, Russell, Louis and
Harry; a sister, Edna Boesky; and
six grandchildren. Interment Los
Angeles.

BEN OKUM, 73, former De-
troiter of Los Angeles, Calif., died

Feb. 18. Survived by a son, Ronald
of San Marino, Calif.; two daugh-
ters, Sharleen Bergman of Agora,
Calif., and Joanne Folino of Ven-
tura, Calif.; seven
grandchildren and one great-
grandchild. Interment Rivetside,
Calif.
