Elazar At Weine Fete

Dr. Daniel Elazar will be the
guest lecturer at a special convo-
cation convened by the Midrasha
in honor of Rabbi Max Weine's re-
tirement from the Midrasha fa-
culty on March 24 at Cong. Beth
Achim at 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Elazar received his M.A.
and Ph.D. degrees in political sci-
ence from the University of
Chicago and an honorary docto-
rate of Hebrew letters from the
Hebrew Union College. He is
president of the Jerusalem Center
for Public Affairs and professor,
inter-governmental relations,
and head of the Institute of Local
Government at Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity. He also holds the position of
professor of political science at
Temple University.
He is the editor of 700 publica-
tions, including 30 books. Among

has received numerous fellow-
ships and grants from the Ford
Foundation, the Guggenheim
Foundation, Fulbright Founda-
tion and the National Endowment
for the Humanities.
- He is involved in many organ-

Council of Yad Vashem.
Dr. Elazar's topic is "Kinship
and Consent — The Bonds of the
Jewish Community." The convo-
cation is open to the public.
