Israeli Folkdance
Workshop Slated

A ten-week workshop in Israeli
folkdancing will be held at the
Jimmy Prentis Morris branch of
the Jewish Community Center
beginning Wednesday.
The workshop, designed for be-
, ginners and taught by Beth Nor-
man, dance instructor for the
Jewish Parents Institute, will
meet 8 p.m. Wednesdays through
May 15. There is a fee for the
course.

Sephardic Jews'
History Discussed

The history of the Sephardic
community in Israel will be dis-
cussed by Dr. Elie D. Aboulafia at
8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jimmy
Prentis Morris Branch of the
Jewish Community Center.
The meeting is being sponsored
by the Association of Parents of
American Israelis and it is open to
the public.
Dr. Aboulafia was graduated
from high school in Israel and re-
ceived his medical degree from
the University of Geneva in Swit
zerland. His family has a long
Sephardic history in Israel.

Crime Victims
Get Hotline

The Greater Detroit Section of
the National Council of Jewish
Women has started a Victim Serv-
ice Council to provide emotional
and practical support for victims
of crime.
Incoming calls from such vic-
tims are received by trained vol-
unteers 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mondays
and Wednesdays and 9 a.m.-12:30
p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Victim Service Council
may be reached by calling 258-
9355 during the above hours.

Lecture Series
Begins At Center

"The Secret Worlds of Moses
and Jesus" is the title of an illus-
trated lecture series to be pre-
sented on Tuesday evenings at
7:30 p.m., beginning this Tuesday
at the main Jewish Community
Center.
The lecturer is Dr. Stephen
Bertman, professor of classical
studies at the University of
Windsor. There is a fee. For in-

1000, ext. 164.
