AJCampaign Events Set

With the closing of the 1985 Al-
lied Jewish Campaign only four
weeks away (April 2), several im-
portant events are scheduled. The
Arthur Leipzig photographic ex-
hibition, "Jewish Life Around the
World," is slated to open at a
Campaign gathering March 10 at
the main Jewish Community
Center.
On March 11, the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation's reception for
"The Precious Legacy: Judaic
Treasures from the Czechoslovak
State Collections," will be at the
Detroit Institute of Arts.
A Community Budgeting
Forum will be held March 20 at
the main Center. This town meet-
ing will allow for communal
in-put before Federation's alloca-
tion of Campaign dollars begins.
The Leipzig collection of 51
photographs is being brought
here by Federation in honor of its
overseas partners through the
Joint Distribution Committee.
The exhibit will remain on view
through April 5.

The Business and Professional
Women's Division of the 1985 Al-
lied Jewish Campaign is prepar-
ing for two big fund-raising
events: a tour on Tuesday of the
Holocaust Memorial Center for
major givers and a March 14 $100
Section dinner at the home of
Florine Mark Ross featuring Ken-
tucky businesswoman and Jewish
communal leader Mickey Baron.
In addition to her duties as
owner of Physical Therapy Serv-
ices in Louisville and past
president of the Kentucky Physi-
cal Therapy Association, Ms.
Baron is active in the Jewish
community. She holds young
leadership awards from the
Louisville Jewish Community
Federation and the Jewish Wel-
fare Board. A member of the Na-
tional Conference on Soviet Jew-
ry's executive committee, Ms.
Baron has traveled twice to the
Soviet Union to visit with Jewish
ref useniks.

Esther Applebaum, president of
the B'nai B'rith Women's Council
of Metropolitan Detroit, will join a
B'nai B'rith Women's mission to
visit Ethiopian Jews in Israel
next month.

Blood Bank Drive

B'nai B'rith Men's and
Women's Councils of Metropoli-
tan Detroit will sponsor a blood
bank drive on Monday and Tues-
day from 5 to 9:30 p.m., at Temple

Tauber will preside. A presenta-
tion of local needs will be made by
James M. August, chairman of
Federation's Conference of Di-
vision Chairmen. Martin E. Cit-
rin, immediate past president of
the Council of Jewish Federa-
tions, will present the case for
overseas requirements. A Cam-
paign progress report will be
given by chairman Robert H. Naf-
taly and audience participation
will follow.
A sandwich supper will be
served, and reservations are re-
quired. Persons wishing to par-
ticipate and to place an item on
the agenda are asked to call Mary
Neubert at Federation, 965-3939,

Federation. She is also a member
of the U.S. Holocaust
Commission-International Net-
work of Children of Survivors and
is often called upon to speak on
the Holocaust.
