The Protocols, according to
Rabbi Finkelman, were writ-
ten some time around 1905 in
Czarist Russia, in an attempt
to blame the problems of the
failing regime on the Jews.
Later, the publication was
used as part of Hitler's cam-
paign against the Jews, Rabbi
Finkelman said. He also

pointed out that the book is
felt by many to be a "collection
of lies."
Last week, the national
ADL asked the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia to condemn pub-
lication of a Protocols offshoot,
The International Jew, in the
English language Saudi
Gazette. Henry Ford first pub-
lished The International Jew
in his Dearborn Independent
in the 1920s., He later re-
tracted the publication and
apologized for it.
Naboulsi admitted to The
Jewish News that parts of the
Protocols "may be false," yet
he added that the MSA sold it
because they believe it to have
a small element of truth.
"I'm sure that the part of the
book that talks about the
Jewish plot to take over the
world has been amplified in
one way or the other,"
Naboulsi said. "But there are a
lot of set patterns in there that
are very much true when it
comes to describing what the
Israelis are presently doing in
the Middle East."
Despite the obvious implica-
tions of selling anti-Semitic
literature on a major college
campus, Rabbi Finkelman
points out that this type of lit-
erature is only increasing al-
ready existing tensions be-
tween the two groups.
"What I wriuld like to see are
some reasonable dialogues be-
tween Zionists and non-
Zionists," Rabbi Finkelman
said. "Selling these insane ra-
cist ravings is not helping any-
thing." he said.
According to Rabbi Finkel-
man, the only way to ease the
ideological campus conflict is
to sit down and talk about it.
"We have to have a meaning-
ful dialogue," he said.
Naboulsi, on the other hand,
showed no interest in setting
up a dialogue. He said both
sides would simply reaffirm
their own positions and view-
points, and nothing would be
accomplished.
Responding to Naboulsi's
skepticism about a meeting
with Zionists, Rabbi Finkel-
man said, facetiously, "I'm
glad to see they're so open-
minded about it."
The battle of the books,
however, is not limited to the
Protocols. The MSA has taken
issue with, and is expressing
its own anger with Hillel's dis-
tribution of theA/PA C College
Guide, a book dealing with
anti-Semitism on American
college campuses. According
to Naboulsi, the book contains
"straight-out lies and misquo-
