Business Women Gather
For Allied Campaign Event

One of Milwaukee's leading
business women and Jewish
communal leaders will address
the Business and Professional
Women's Division major gifts sec-
tion of the 1985 Allied Jewish
Campaign, on a tour of the
Holocaust Memorial Center at
5:30 p.m. on March 5.
A leader of the Business and
Professional Women group in
Milwaukee, Betty Chrustowski is
board member and past campaign
chairman of Milwaukee's Jewish
Federation. She is Wisconsin
chairman of the American Israel
Public Affairs Committee and co-
chairman of the Holocaust Re-
source Center.
Ms. Chrustowski is also a
member of the U.S. Holocaust
Commission-International Net-
work of Children of Survivors and
is often called upon to speak on
the Holocaust.
Edie Mittenthal is chairman of
the $500 Section. Susan Miller is
associate chairman and Janice
Shatzman is briefing chairman.

Pola Friedman, Linda Gershen-
son, Judith Greenbaum, Linda
Klein, Rhoda Medow and Janice

Campaign Sets Record

For the third consecutive year,
the Jewish community of Detroit
has set a record for cash contribu-
tions to the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign. The total for calendar 1984
is $20,770,000 — an increase of
$750,000 over 1983.

In December alone, $8,530,000
was collected, making it the most
successful December in Jewish

Welfare Federation's history.
Marvin H. Goldman is Cam-
paign cash chairman.
The funds provided by Federa-
tion support- human need pro-
grams for beneficiaries at home
and overseas. Of the total col-
lected, more than $550,000 went
toward Project Renewal, $210,000
to the Israel Emergency Fund and
$260,000 to Operation Moses.

Israeli Vocalist Entertains
At Annual Akiva Dinner

Israeli singing star Yoel
Sharabi will entertain at the 21st
annual banquet of Akiva Hebrew
Day School at 7 p.m. March 3 at
Cong. Shaarey Zedek. Cocktails
will be served at 6 p.m.
Dinner chairman Shifra Zwick
announces Rabbi James I. Gor-
don, spiritual leader of Young Is-
rael of Oak-Woods, will be pre-
sented with the Distinguished

Service Award "in recognition of
his 20 years of devoted service to
Akiva."
The Akiva ad journal, an an-
nual fund raiser, will be distrib-
uted that evening. Ad journal
chairmen are Gerald Borsand and
Morris Prostak.
