Bert Ogus (she's former Jackie
Weitzman) finally found an
apartment . . . just the kind they

Allan giggled with glee . . . Jackie
and Bert hurried to the shops,
carefully selected five rooms of
gorgeous furniture . . . and made
their Monte Vista abode a
showplace for happy home life .. .
They've been in the place a month
. . . and now Bert learns he's being
transferred elsewhere . . . and
they'll have to move."
March 19, 1948 . . . "Irving
wine, ex-GI wounded in Europe,
couldn't return to fruit business
. . . because leg wound meant no
more standing on feet for great
length of time . . . He got priority
on government merchandise .. .
stocked up on the surplus goods
. . . and is running a self-serve
setup . . . don't know what good
they are, but bombsights that cost
the government $1,200 can be had
for about $3 . . . And if anyone
ever tells you to go fly a kite .. .
Iry has them, too . . . The place is
out Livernois way . . . and even
the shelving is made from gov-
ernment boxes."

April 6, 1948 . . . "Reminder
note to that synagogue on Lin-
wood and Blaine . . . Summer is
coming . . . time to get a new awn-
ing . . . that doesn't say, "Enjoy
Your Spare time" . . . and invites
folks in to play some billiards .. .
You'll be interested in a recent
remark made by a community-ite
who ventured an opinion that
perhaps the tables were in opera-
tion downstairs . . . Tch, tch, such
goings-on . . . and all because the
old Star Recreation had to have
the wrong kind of awning on their
place."
