Pearl August, president,
Women of Maimonides Medical
Society, has announced that the
group's 39th annual Donor Day
will be observed March 19 at Fair-
lane Manor.
Beginning at 10 a.m., the affair
will feature many boutiques, in-
cluding arts and crafts, women's
and children's apparel, handbags,
jewelry, stationery and gift items.
The boutiques will be open until 4
p.m. Following a noon luncheon,
an fashion show will be presented
by designer Bette Appel.
The organization is composed of
more than 400 Jewish physician's
wives who since the group's
founding in 1924 have strived to
serve the community by helping
others in keeping with the teach-
ings of the 12th Century Jewish
philsopher and physician Moses
_Ben Maimon.
In addition to supporting many
health-related local community
projects, the organization raises
money to make available
interest-free loans for needy stu-
dents attending Wayne State
University Medical School, Uni-

Schools and the School of
Medicine at the Hebrew Univer-
sity in Jerusalem.
Donor Day Chairman is Mar-

Lubavitch Baking Class

The Lubavitch Women's
Organization will sponsor a
Purim baking class in conjunction
with the Week of the Jewish
Women at the Jewish Community
Center Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.- Co-
Presidents Rochel Kagan and
Rochel Zaklos announce the pro-
gram is for girls ages 7-12 and
their mothers. There is a nominal
charge. The girls will receive kits
with special treats and literature.
There will also be Purim storytel-
ling.
The Liibavitch Women's
Organization sponsors a number
of programs. Among them are
classes in Chasidism, mystic as-
pects of Judaism, in Oak Park,

Southfield, Farmington and West
Bloomfield. There are weekly
classes for senior citizens at High-
land TOwers and over a dozen
nursing homes will be visited dur-
ing Purim with the distribution of
kits to residents.
Other resources available
through Lubavitch women are a
speakers bureau, home and phone
study programs, classes in all
areas of Jewish interest for sing-
les, couples, beginners and ad-
vanced, a home koshering service,
tour of a modern mikvah,
candlelighting kits and literature
and a mezuzah checking service.
