continue writing to their Rus-
sian Jewish counterparts, and
implore adults to participate
in the Adopt-A-Family
letter-writing campaign of the
Detroit Soviet Jewry Commit-
tee.
And to mark the freedom
both families now enjoy, the
Friedmans and the Prutkovs,
with the Berenfelds in absen-
tia, will join on the bimah to
recite the Shecheyanu bless-
ing, thanking God for allowing
them to reach this very special
day.

The Israel Bond Organization mourns the passing of

Theodore Curtis

of Oak Park, beloved father of Doreen Hermelin and
father-in-law of David Hermelin, our National Cam-
paign Chairman. He was a staunch supporter of
Israel and the entire family has long been in the
forefront of the Bond Campaign and many activities
which promote the progress and well-being of Israel
and the Jewish people.

Our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Anna, to Do-
reen and David Hermelin and to the entire family.

Winston Churchill: Comparing
Greeks and Jews.

>

Tel Aviv (ZINS) — In an edito-
rial comment on party rivalries,
physical clashes between the
Sephardim and theeh
Ashkenazim, and the emergence
of Israeli terror groups, the He-
brew morning daily, Ha'aretz, re-
calls Winston Churchill's descrip-
tion of the Jews and the Greeks in
his the History of the Second
World War.
Greeks and Jews, wrote Chur-
chill, are people strongly preoccu-
pied with political factionism.
Even though the threat to
fatherland is great and the situa-
tion desperate, they still persist in
splintering off into different polit-
ical parties.
Although said in jest, it would
still appear to be true that
"whereever there are three Jews,
one learns that two of them are
prime ministers while the third is
a leader of the opposition."
More than any others, these two
nations have left their indelible
imprint on the world. Both of'
them have demonstrated an as-
tounding aptitude for survival.
And notwithstanding all of the
stresses from the outside, they
have never ceased in their divi-
siveness and rebellions within
their own ranks. They survive
every crisis foisted upon them by
the world outside and by their
own domestic discord.
