Provided FREE Pick-up & Delivery All Makes & Models Open & Closed End All You Do Is Call Jerusalem — The former head of the Mosad (Israel's secret serv- ice) said Tuesday that Joseph Mengele, the Auschwitz concen- tration camp doctor responsible for the deaths of more than 300,000 Jews, should be killed if he can't be brought to trial for Nazi war crimes. "Someone should make a final solution for Mengele," Isar Harel told a group of reporters during a three-day mock trial for the in- famous doctor in Jerusalem this week, referring to the euphemism the Nazis used to describe their genocidal policies. Harel's com- ments were prompted by his belief that Mengele may never be extra- dited from Paraguay — where he allegedly lives now — to face West German charges which originated in 1959. Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal, who also took part in the mock trial, said the 73-year-old doctor was seen in Paraguay early last summer, but that he is protected by the government there. The few dozen victims who sur- vived Mengele's medical "exper- iments" were among those who testified against the concentra- tion camp doctor in Israel this week. Mengele, who was search- ing for a way to produce large numbers of the so-called Aryan race to repopulate Germany at the end of the war, did much of his work on twins. Helena Hamermash, a Jewish prisoner who collected evidence at Auschwitz that was later used to convict a number of war crimi- nals, testified that Mengele fan- cied himself a great medical re- searcher. When some child pris- oners died of a disease that scien- tists thought had been eradicated in Europe, the Nazi doctor had their heads cut off and shipped to universities in Germany for study. Healthy people were also sac- rificed to Mengele's anatomical research. The doctor would take people who interested him to the crematorium, Hamermash said, kill them with a fatal injection "and when their bodies were still warm, he would dissect them." The organizers of the mock trial are making the testimony avail- able to any government willing to prosecute Mengele.
