. . . Lunch is $10 . . . Reserve in
advance by calling Barbara
Moretsky, executive director,
259-7200.
NOTHING CHEAP OR
skimpy_ about the decor at
Wildflower Restaurant in Drake
Summit Shopping Plaza, Drake
and Walnut . . . It's one of the
area's most beautiful restaurants
. . . with 22 bay windows,
burgundy-colored thisk padded
booths, round and square tables
and recessed lighting . . . There's
also a large heavy walnut bar
with striking wood overhang in a
lounge full of bay windows.
This is where the biggest seller
is Grecian Chicken . . . cooked,
baked and broiled to order .. .
after three days of being mari-
nated in oregano, oil, lemon and
spices.
Seating is for 175 . . . If it wasn't
the Wildflower, this would make a
great Darby's-like restaurant
with proper layout changes.
But it is presently the
Wildflower . . . and aptly run by
Manuel Chavez . . . who still
makes his famous Caesar salad
tableside . . . as he has done for
over 20 years at London Chop
House, Restaurant Duglass,
among others.
There's a menu change coming
with more items being added .. .
Monday evenings is Pasta Night
at the Wildflower . . . with pasta
by Maria Eisenberg . . . and au-
thentic Mexican fare by Manuel's
wife, Modesta Chavez.
We were there recently for
Sunday brunch . . . and enjoyed its
10-to-3 fare . . . with over 25 items
from which to choose . . . Brunch
hostess, Rhea Berger, quite a cook
in her own right, makes the very
delicious Blintze Souffle . . .
There's a lot to eat . . . sable,
chubs, scrambled eggs,, lox, break-
fast meats, potato pancakes,
cheese blintzes with strawberry,
apple or sour cream sauces, etc.
. . . plus plenty of hot dishes.
Wildflower kitchen hours are
Monday-Thursday, 5 p.m. to 11
p.m. . . . Friday and Saturday, 5 to
12 . . . Sunday, besides brunch,
dinner 4 to 9.
Manuel and Executive Chef
Chris Carl are together again .. .
Both worked at Restaurant Dug-
lass.
RUTH SCHECHTER is new
evening hostess at Chef Theodore,
Orchard Lake Rd. between 12 and
13, Tuesday through Saturday.
WHO'S WHERE . . . Brian
Dishell, pianist at Romaniks, Or-
chard Lake Mall, Orchard Lake
Rd. and Maple . . . Charles Savage
on piano, Monday-Friday, 5:30-12
midnight at St. Regis Hotel, W.
Grand Blvd. . . . Rico Romando
Duo in Wicker Works at North-
field Hilton, Crooks and 1-75.
THE NAME "CLOCK" is very
much out of character for the one
on Southfield near Ten Mile .. .
Its broiled and roasted chicken
are crowd pullers . . . and that
$3.99 price can't be beat . . . one
evening last week, it sold out
completely . . . The Clock at this
locale even uses Jewish rye bread
for breakfast toast . . . and bakes
its own bread, too . . . another
dinnertime favorite.
MAIL DEPT. . . . "I am a fre-
quent customer of Manny's Deli &

Restaurant at 212 W. Nine Mile
Rd., between F & M and
McDonald's (next to Kresge) in
Ferndale.
"I sincerely and truthfully say
that Manny's Deli makes the most
delicious corned beef sandwich
and soups. In fact, all of his foods
are very delicious. I indeed
recommend him and his deli to
everyone.

CARL'S
CHOP HOUSE

Alex Ventittelli

has opened at Pine Lake Mall, Or-
chard Lake Rd. and Pine Lake .. .
It's called The Aristocrat . . . with
emphasis majoring on Asian food
. . . China (11), Singapore (3),
Korea (2), Japan (2), Vietnam (2),
Thailand (2), Indonesia (2) . . . and
the Philippine specialties (18).
One of the eateries is called The
Restaurant, a small Coney Island
. . . The Aristocrat is where China
Gate used to be . . . and directly
across from Crickets . . . All three
dining spots will help each other
. . . bringing people to the mall for
their choices . . . The more restau-
rants the more business we say
. . . in any area . . . because that's
where the customers will go.
General Manager is Theo
Bagaris and Ken Johnson, man-
ager .. Bartender Eddie
Bautista is from the Philippines
. . . making the real things in
those exotic Polynesian concoc-
tions . . . plus Spanish or Irish cof-
fee . . . all at bar or table.
Aristocrat is a very interesting
restaurant . . . Food of the Philip-
pines is considered by many to be
the most innovative of eastern
foods . . . It is delicious when pre-
pared properly . . . and a true din-
ing experience . . . Dolores
Singston in the kitchen, worked
four years in the Philippines and
two years United States . . . Chef
Bruce Antayn prepares the
American dishes.
