JCCouncil Begins Education Forums The first in a series of educa- tional forums on issues of contem- porary interest will be presented by the Jewish Community Coun- cil of Metropolitan Detroit at 8 p.m. Feb. 12 at Temple Emanu-El. Co-sponsored by the temple, the program is entitled "U.S. Policy in Central America: Two Views." The program will feature pre- sentations by Dr. Judith Laikin Elkin, adjunct professor of history at the University of Michigan, and John Hamilton of the U.S. State Department's office of Cen- tral American Affairs. Dr. Elkin is the author of Jews of the Latin American Republics, and is president of the Latin American Jewish Studies Asso- ciation. She has recently returned from three months in Argentina as a Fulbright scholar. Hamilton is a regional political affairs officer, who has been with the State Department since 1970. He is a former member of the Pol- icy Planning and Coordination Council, and has held diplomatic posts in Mexico City, Madrid and Salonika. The community is invited.. There is no charge.
