Our Christian
Administration

r=

N.

Once again, we get the message
that current Administration
and fedel government regard a
non-Christian American as a con-
tradiction in terms.
The latest., incident concerns
government-composed sermons
that the Department of Health
and Human Services has distrib-
uted to help churches promote
adoptions. Hundreds of welfare
agencies, presumably the sermon
brokers, have received such
government-written homiles as,
"How blessed we are to have been
chosen before the world was made
to become adopted children
through Jesus Christ."
This action is consistent with
others of the past year: the Ad-
ministration's push for the
Houdinian government-approved
compulsory, voluntary, meaning-
ful, yet nondenominational, vocal
group prayer in the public schools
that is not dominated by those of
the majority faith; the copy of the
New Testament that was included
and then yanked at the last mo-
ment from the delegates' packets
at the Republican Convention;
the letter from the President's
campaign manager to encourage
voter registration that began,
"Dear Christian Leader"; for the
first time in 11 years, the inclu-
sion of a nativity scene, the one
religious symbol, in the National
Christmas Pageant of Peace; the
decision of Congress and the De-
partment of Education to make
school districts identify and pro-
hibit the teaching of the
boogeyman, "secular humanism,"
i.e., whatever each district doesn't
like.
Despite the message, this coun-
try belongs to all Americans,
Christians and non-Christians,
equally. Our leaders should know
this and their contempt for reli-
gious pluralism should not go un-
challenged.

I was very surprised that you
too picked up the error followed by
the media in general in dealing
with the exodus of the "Jews"
from Ethiopia.
"Jews" are descendants of the
tribe of Judah.
The people in Ethiopia are gen-
erally believed to be from the tribe
of Dan, one of the ten lost tribes of
Israel.
Israelites they are, and to Israel
they are returning.
They are not "Jews."

In Defense Of
Rabbi Kahane

Rabbi Meir Kahane is not a ra-
cist or hater of any peoples per se.
He has but one interest and one
love and that is that the Jewish
people should survive and pro-
sper. If anyone or any group
should be an enemy of the Jews,
