well known U.S. view is that
any and all settlement activity
on the West Bank is unhelpful
and an obstacle toward a just
and lasting peace between Is-
rael and its neighbors," Rom-
berg said.
He added that the United
States "makes every effort to
insure that the U.S. govern-

settlement activity on the
West Bank." The __United
States has provided. a $15 mil-

Appeal to be used by the
Jewish Agency in Israel
toward the resettlement and
absorption of refugees, includ-

Romberg said.
Hadassah, holding its mid-
winter conference in
Jerusalem, announced two
major contributions toward
the absorption of Ethiopian
Jews in Israel: $200,000 for
Youth Aliyah special educa-

use the Frieda Lewis Youth
Aliyah Seminar Center at
Hoshaya in Galilee as an ab-

The Hadassah-sponsored
facility, nearing completion,
will be employed in that
capacity for the next two-three
years.
Last week, the National
Council of Jewish Women
transferred $20,000 to its re-
search institute fonits Ethio-
pian absorption project.
