because of their close ties with
Khomeini and Kuwait's fear of in-
tervention by its powerful
neighbor.
There is hardly any area
around the sensitive Persian Gulf
in which the presence of the fun-
damentalists has not been felt and
where a full-scale onslaught is not
expected. This holds true for the
states along the North African lit-
toral. King Hassan of Morocco is a
prime target and this may be one
of the reasons why he recently al-
lied himself with Qadhafi of
Libya, an ally of Khomeini.
In Lebanon, where the Shiites
are a majority in the south and
3,000 Iranian fighters are
ensconced, Khomeini has de-
veloped a large and enthusiastic
following which is demanding an
Islamic Republic replacing Leba-
non's traditional Christian-
Moslem alliance.
In their preoccupation with the
disappearing oil dollars and the
fundanientalist threat, the Arab
leaders have relegated the ques-
tions of Israel and the Palesti-
nians to the back-burner.

WJC and U.S.
seek survivors
New York (JTA) — The De-
partment of Justice has asked the
assistance of the World Jewish
Congress (WJC) in locating sur-
vivors among laborers at the un-
derground V-2 rocket factory at-
tached to the Dora/Nordhausen
concentration camp.
The Justice Department re-
quest comes in the aftermath of
the disclosure that Arthur
Rudolph, the German-born space
official who developed the rocket
that carried American astronauts
to the moon, surrendered his
American citizenship earlier this
year and left the country rather
than face charges that he had
brutalized slave laborers at the
Nazi rocket factory during World
War II.
According to the Justice De-
partment's Office of Special In-
vestigations — the agency re-
sponsible for prosecuting Nazi
war criminals presently living in
the United States — Ruldoph
"participated in the persecution of
forced laborers, including concen-
tration camp inmates, who were
employed there under inhumane
conditions." A third to one-half of
Dora's sixty thousand prisoners
died.
The Office of Special Investiga-
tion, in seeking to locate survivors
of the Dora/Nordhausen concen-
tration camp, has advised the
WJC that it particularly wishes to
contact persons who worked in the
main rocket production facility
(Mittelwerk underground plant)
prior to Jan. 1, 1945.
Individuals who can be of any
assistance in this investigation
are asked to contact: Bessy Pupko,
World Jewish Congress, One Park
Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10016.
