Koh voted against the Zionism-is-racism resolution and his remarks may be well- unintentioned. But, as the edito- rial in the Jerusalem Post (Dec. 12) states that the "suggestion it- self reveals the insidious effect of that Arab and Soviet inspired falsehood on even a friendly dip- lomat. It was not Israel's failure to live up to its original promise of social and political equality to the Arab population that prompted a group of UN member states, whose very essence breathes dis- crimination and inequality, to pin — through the General Assembly — the charge of racism on the Jewish people's national libera- tion movement. What these states were concerned with was the au- thenticity of Jewish peoplehood and the legitimacy of Israeli statehood . . ." It is high time to do something about this obscene resolution, namely, to wipe it off the official record of the UN. The seminars and conferences which are being, and will be, held around the world are a major effort to alert public opinion to the viciousness of the resolution which — in the words of Elliott Abrams, Assistant Sec- retary of State for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs — in the guise of anti-Zionism serves "to legitimize anti-Semitism and continues to pose a major threat to the survival of Israel and the Jewish people."! The Zionist Organization of America, in a resolution adopted at its recent national convention in Washington, called upon the ZOA in concert with other seg- ments of the Jewish community to initiate a campaign to rescind the infamous Zionism-is-racism reso- lution. This effort should be mounted locally, nationally and, hopefully, internationally to alert and influence public opinion, to mobilize Congressmen, Senators, statesmen and governments to bring about an official rescinding of the resolution in the UN. It will be an arduous task and a hard and long road, but it has to be done. In her Dec. 28 article, "Are In- dividuals and Society Putting Singles Up on a Shelf?" Esther Pastor describes singles as ". lost in time and space . . . waiting for a roommate, a lover, a hus- band or God-knows-what that will simultaneously put an end to our single status and justify our exist- ence," claiming that outmoded communal attitudes cause rejec- tion of singles, resulting in their Continued on next page Of Comet 356-8525 • THE FINEST IN MUSIC • I MAN BAND • .7I P7.C n 111 • DANCERS • CLOWNS • MIME • VENTRILOQUIST • MAGIC • CARICATURE ARTISTS =MIMI AN 9•11 MP I re • • • •••••••••••••••••••••••••• 00 .co • Icr) mtr • *or • 2" a,* TV's S creen 0 -0 >12• BIG DISCOUNTS : SEIKO QUARTZ WATCHES CONCERNED ABOUT AGING PARENTS? • 40%T • ELDER HOME CARE offers individualized home care programs to meet your needs.
