A mini-Hebrew music festival
will be presented on Jan. 11 at
8:30 p.m. in the Benard L. Maas
Chapel of Temple Beth El, spon-
sored by the Married Group of the
temple.
The Wayne State University
Chamber Players, consisting of
Dr. Morris Hochberg, violinist;

Richard Piippo, cellist; and Doris'
Richards, pianist, will entertain. ,1
They will perform during the
liturgical service and then will
play duets and trios of Hebrew
Music as a Sermon in Song. Com-
positions of Ernest Bloch, Feli/
Mendelssohn, Johseph Achro
and Henry Wieniawski will b
played, with explanations b
Rabbi Dannel Schwartz.
Dr. Hochberg, professor 6,
music, was the assistant con
certmaster of the Detroit Sym,
phony Orchestra for many year
under the direction of Maestro
Sixten Ehrling and Paul Paray
He is the head of the string di
vision of the WSU music depart
ment, and has appeared as a s4
oist with the DSO as well as with
the WSU Orchestra, playing con e
certi by Mendelssohn, Mozart
Tschiakowsky, Brahms an
Dvorak.
Ms. Richards, professor of pian
at WSU, is the coordinator of til l
group piano courses and gradua
officer of the WSU music dep
ment. She has appeared as solois
in Windsor and with numero
groups iri the Detroit Metropoli
tan area. She is an accompanis
and belongs to many chambe
music groups.
Piippo received his bachelor'
and master's degrees in cello fro
the University of Wisconsin and
Diploma of Distinction in Pe
formance from the Internatio
Meisterkurse in Zurich, Switze
land. He is on the cello staff
WSU and is the director of th
Fairlane Youth Chamber Musi
Guild. He appears as a soloist an
belongs to many musical chambei
groups.
