YOUNG
AND
TALENTED
The B'nai B'rith Youth Organization
regional convention talent show last week
displayed some acts that were talented,
and some that were far-out.
Between 600 and 700 B'nai B'rith
youth and a number of adults attended the
three-hour show Dec. 25 at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek. The performers sang, danced, told
jokes and put on group skits in one of the
major highlights of the five-day annual
convention.
Although most of the BBYO
convention events were held at the Jewish
Community Center in West Bloomfield,
the talent show was staged in one of the
Shaarey Zedek social halls and a dance
was held Dec. 28 at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Convention activities included
numerous contests for the AZA and BBG
members on an individual and group
basis. Competitions were held for
storytelling, cheers, baking, photography,
art, film, sports, singing and oratory.
There were two spirit-and-song sessions
and a T-shirt fashion show.
Hundreds of Jewish teenagers from
the Detroit area participated in the
week-long BBYO activities.
