years later when the news of
his own tragic end — and of
course his own heroic efforts
and achievements in behalf of
his people — came out in the
public prints.
Raoul Wallenberg was, as I
have said, one of the most ad-
mirable and attractive stu-
dents I have ever known, and
his warmly human yet ma-
turely wise attitude to every-
thing he encountered still re-
mains fresh in my memory.
If the above recollections,
somewhat hurriedly set down,
can be of use to you, I shall be
pleased. I am sorry I did not
keep a carbon copy of this let-
ter, but you will know what to
do not to let the original be-
come lost.

With all its length, this recol-
lection only scratches the surface
in describing Raoul Wallenberg,
judged by the devotion and
enthusiasm with which Sol King
introduced the projected recogni-
tion and honor for Wallenberg.
Prof. Slusser's message adds an
important chapter to the story. It
serves as a chapter all its own,
splendidly describing a great
man. Hopefully, he may yet ap-
pear in person to be honored by
mankind. The struggle in the
form of a worldwide appeal to the
Kremlin for his release may yet
bear fruit.
