Recent luncheon there was so packed, valet parkers had to stop taking cars . . . it was an auto owners nightmare outside .. . cars coming from all directions, stupid people leaving their cars on a slant and just going in . . . Cop came and write down plenty of license numbers for court invites. Getting in was a celebration by - itself . . . but a holiday party had John Finck, Michigan Opera; ibil Little, Oakland Press; Leah Marks, fashion show producer; hirlee Iden, Southfield Eccen- tric; Tamara Friedman, Tamara's nstitute de Beaute; Marilyn Zack and Jane Keliman. When we came out of Jacque's, the same valet parker who virtu- .11y told us to put our car in the lake or somewhere, was all eager beaver to get the auto . . . if we had found a. parking spot nearby .. . he pressure was off . . . Heck, most parkers of yesteryears coped with a lot more pressure than these kids do . . . and never let it other them . . . BUNNY BEYER of McFrock's, downstairs of Roman Terrace, 12 Mile and Orchard Lake Rd., was recently named "Detroit's Favo- rite Bartender" in contest by American Lung Association of Southeastern Michigan . . . She raised $4,010 for ALSEM as her customers paid $1 a vote in No- vember balloting. UNLESS YOU LIVE or work in the area, Manny's Deli Restau- rant, Nine Mile Rd., next to Kresge's, just west of Woodward, could be considered as being off the beaten path . . . But one thing still holds true . . . that this place with its big yellow awning ex- tending out might very well be the best little delicatessen restaurant of its size in the Midwest . . . if not anywhere. This is a big statement, but con- sider that owners Manny and Christine Farao, with their seat- ing for only 29 people in four booths, four two-top tables, and seven counter seats, own a delica- tessen restaurant that covets an almost unbelievable 96 percent mark of cleanliness from the city's health department . . . serves the highest quality food that can be purchased . . . makes soups with all fresh vegetables, no preservatives, no artificial color-. ing or flavoring and no salt .. . and is many times called 'The lit- tle delicatessen-resturant with a -touch of gourmet cooking" .. . with lunch items like Chicken a la Casadora, V2 lb. boneless, skinless char-broiled chicken breast, served open-faced on Jewish rye with Manny's special sauce (sauteed onions, mushrooms, green peppers and tomatoes in white wine and his own herbs and spices) . . . Old Fashion Beef Stew with beef marinated in white wine . . . Chicken A La Cristo Rey (an excellent petite diet delight), 1 /2 lb. skinless, boneless char- broiled chicken breast, served on an Italian bun with Manny's homemade BBQ sauce, etc. Manny's Deli is also "Home of the Belly Buster" . . . 1/2 lb. corned beef and pastrami on onion roll or 1 /2 lb. pastrami and salami on onion roll . . . There are almost half as many salads as there are seats in the place, 13 . . . plus 18 single-decker sandwiches, 14 combinations, 11 super trible de- ckers, six burger sandwiches, 1 /3 or 1 /2 lb. each . . . 14 different types of hot dog sandwiches, including the famous Floogie Dog, Mayor Dog and Portuguese Choriso (homemade sausage on French bun) . . . and a box on the menu that says, "If you do not see what you like, ask for it and we will gladly prepare it."
