HMC seeking
volunteers
-The Holocaust Memorial Cen-
ter is seeking additional volun-
teers to serve as tour guides, de-
velop study materials, speak to
school groups and work in the
HMC's library and media center.
A new training program for
museum guides will begin in
January. Sessions will be held
Jan. 7 and 9, 7-9 p.m.; and Jan. 8
and 10, 10 a.m. to noon in the
HMC Conference Room.
The Center is also looking for
volunteers to be trained to inter-
view Holocaust survivors for the
HMC archives. Professor Sid Bol-
kosky of the University of
Michigan-Dearborn will conduct
the training sessions.
Ellen Glen chairs the volunteer
committee, sub-committee
chairmen are Ruth Lefkowitz and
Melba Winer, guides; Judy
Ehrmann, education; Mira
Eisenberg, outreach; Barbara
Janower, library and media cen-
ter; Rona Freedland, visitor in-
formation; and Vivian Karlinsky,
administration.

Rabbi A. Irving Schnipper,
spiritual leader of Cong. Beth Ab-
raham Hillel Moses in West
Bloomfield, has been elected
president of the Conservative
Rabbis of Metropolitan Detroit.
In addition to his many affilia-
tions, Rabbi Schnipper was re-
cently awarded an honorary Doc-
tor of Divinity degree from the
Jewish Theological Seminary of
America. He was also the reci-
pient of the 1983 Rabbinical
Award from the Council of Jewish
Federations.
Holiday dinner
set at T'chiyah
Cong. T'chiyah will have a
Chanukah potluck dinner at 6
p.m. today in the synagogue. A
dairy dinner will be served. The
party was organized by Deborah
Shulman and Lisa Lipner.
