schools, the ADL director re-
ported.
"Schools that were sensitive
to this kind of problem and
didn't press any one religious
philosophy on their student
bodies always had the backing
of the Constitution and the
courts. Now, they (school ad-
ministrators) see that slipping
away and it has fostered an
emboldening of people who, for
misguided religious reasons,
have stepped up pressure on
the schools and other areas
that have long been consid-
ered public domain."
Judith Adelman is one Bir-
mingham resident who was
pleased with Judge Taylor's
decision, but cautious about
the future of church-state sep-
aration in the educational
process.
"A long time ago, there was
more acceptance of Chris-
tianity in the schools. It was
just the way things were done.
And then pressure by groups
like the ACLU created a kind
of reversal.
"I would hate to see things
return to the way they were."

Meir Kahane: Immunity
questioned.

Jerusalem (JTA) — The Knes-
set House Committee recom-
mended Tuesday that the Knesset
vote to restrict the freedom of
movement that Rabbi Meir
Kahane, leader of the extremist
Kach party, enjoys as part of his
parliamentary immunity.
The proposal did not strip Rabbi
Kahane of his immunity. But it
required the Knesset speaker to
hold a secret ballot within 24
hours on whether or not to limit it.
Rabbi Kahane has announced
his intention to visit Arab villages
in Israel to try to persuade the
residents to leave Israel voluntar-
ily and to prevail on Jewish
women married to Arabs to desert
their husbands. There has been a
move underway in the Knesset for
some time to strip Rabbi Kahane
of his immunity so that he may he
prosecuted for racist agitation
against Israel's Arab citizens.

Gift time? Some men are
precise about their prefer-
ences. An extremely thin
watch. Designed with a
sure-handed elegance.
Simple—a few flawless
details will do. So reliable it
must be Seiko. Each with
gold-tone case, brown dial
and leather strap.
