Alert system
on cable TV

The city of Southfield's cable
TV division has implemented a
new cable emergency alert system
to provide announcements of local
emergencies to Southfield cable
subscribers.
The system is limited to
emergencies occurring in the
cities of Southfield and Oak Park,
and is activated by the police de-
partment following authorization
by top city management.
When the system is activated, a
visual message appears on all
channels indicating it is an emer-
gency message, along with a live,
verbal message describing the na-
ture of the emergency. Viewers
are advised to stay turned to
municipal cable channels 8 and 15
for further information.
