Alice Blumberg

Dimona Chapter, Pioneer
Women/Naamat, will hold its an-
nual "Dollars for David" luncheon
and Chanukah program at noon
Tuesday at the Sutton Place Apts.
club house, 23275 Riverside Dr.,
Southfield. Featured entertainer
will be vocalist Alice Blumberg,
with accompaniment by Mrs.
Seymour Kraus. Reservations are
due today. For reservations, call
Elaine Kohner, 851-3662; or
Frieda Faigin, 356-7119. There is
a charge.
A mezzo soprano, Mrs. Blum-
berg began her professional sing-
ing caree at age 4. Using the name
Alice Kaye, she sang on the ex-
cursion boat from Cleveland to
Cedar Point with Mickey Katz.
At age 7, she was discovered by
Cleveland radio and stage per-
sonality Al Cameron and became
his protege. She appeared with
him regularly until he left the
Cleveland area to work with the
Marx Brothers.
She appeared weekly on the
"Gene and Glenn" radio show at
age 12 and was soon working
throughout the tri-state area with
Kaye Ballard, Frank Gorshin,
Jack Soo and Larry Storch.
Mrs. Blumberg has studied loc-
ally with Celeste Cole and Phyllis
Gehman. She is presently a soloist
with the Temple Emanu-El Choir.
Selections for this program will be
in French, Hebrew, Yiddish and
English.
