According to cash mobilization chairmen Marvin H. Goldman and I. William Sherr, cash pay- ments now have many advan- tages. They pointed out, that for those who itemize their de- ducations, the total amount paid on gifts is deductible within allowable limits. For people who do not itemize, 25 percent of the first $300 is allowed as a charita- ble deduction. The full value of gifts of ap- preciated securities or similar as- sets that are readily marketable will act in the same way as cash for charitable giving, thus provid- ing additional tax benefits. While contributors are helping themselves, they will be answer- ing the needs of Jewish people in the Detroit community, in Israel and elsewhere overseas. The need for cash is critical, in Detroit, where local agencies are increas- ingly pressed to meet the growing needs of the elderly, youth, trou- bled families, the unemployed. 24-Hour Chauffeur Service for • Weddings • Concerts • Nights on the Town $35 per hour, 2 hour min.
