New York (JTA) — Two grand-
children of Rabbi Moses Teitel-
baum, grand rabbi of the Satmar
Chasidim, were wed last week on
Long Island before some 20,000
people, many traveling from parts
of Europe to attend. The wedding
was held at the Nassau Coliseum.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel
Teitelbaum, 18, the eldest son of
Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum and
grandson of Rebbe Moses Teitel-
baum, married Brucha Sima
Meisels, 18, his first cousin. The
bride's mother is the grand re-
bbe's daughter, Chaya.
The couple was wed in a cere-
mony lasting approximately 15
minutes beneath a canopy placed
atop a 150-step ramp outside the
coliseum despite brisk winds and
temperatures in the low 30s.
Following the ceremony, men
were seated in the main arena and
woman in the exhibition hall for
dinner and dancing. There was a
26-piece band to provide Chasidic
music and a full array of Chasidic
entertainment. The affair lasted
till dawn.
The Nassau Colesium is the
home of the New York Islanders
hockey team. The wedding was
estimated to cost $250,000-
$500,000, including a sit-down
dinner for 10,000 guests and a
sandwich buffet for an additional
10,000.

Washington (JTA) — Soviet
propaganda has been depicting
Israeli leaders as inheritors of
"Hitler's fascist mantle" accord-
ing to a State Department report
released last week.
The report, the 17th annual re-
view of Soviet and East European
compliance with the Helsinki
Final Act, notes that during the
six months being studied (April 1
to Oct. 1), there have been "in-
creased levels of anti-Semitic
rhetoric thinly veiled as 'anti-
Zionism.' "
According to the report, "Soviet
propaganda maintains that Is-
raeli and Western intelligence
encourages emigration in order to
obtain state secrets from Soviet
citizens; It further alleges that
`Zionists' collaborated with fas-
cists during World War II to send
many innocent Jews to their
deaths.

Stolen IDF
property back

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Stolen army
"property valued at about $3 mil-
lion was returned to the Israel De-
fense Force last month. The IDF
had declared November a "month
of grace" during which citizens
could return illegally obtained
equipment to military bases or
police stations without question-
ing or risk of punishment.
According to the IDF, the grace
period yielded 670 Soviet-made
