WISHES ...
That speakers at some ban-
quets get paid more if they speak
less . . . So many banquets are af-
fairs where the speaker first eats
a lot of food he doesn't want .. .
and then proceeds to talk about
something he doesn't understand
. . . to a lot of people who don't
want to hear him.
To hear Myron Cohen again tel-
ling one of his stories . . . like the
Jewish businessman who was
persuaded to use a dictaphone on
a trial basis, and if he liked it he
could buy it . . . Next day, the dic-
taphone representative called at
his office and asked him how the
machine was . . . "Well, I'll tell
you," said the customer. "It ain't
so bad, but it talks with an awful
accent."
Or the one about Rosenbloom
being ill and wishing to consult a
physician who was known to his
friend, Moe Levinsky . . . He went
to Moe and said, "Moe, I'm a sick
man. I ought to see a doctor." .. .
"Well, why don't you go and see
my friend, Isaacson? . . . "Yes, but
ain't he awful expensive?" .. .
"Well, he ain't so cheap. He
charges $100 for the first visit, but
after that it's only $20." . . . The
next day Rosenbloom went to see
the doctor . . . As soon as the door
was opened and the doctor came
out, Rosenbloom said: "Well, doc,
here I am again."
Or the judge asking, "You say
