"I'VE HEARD OF hot pants,"
said Dr. Herbet Bloom, as he stood
before fireplace welcoming folks
to home of his and wife Judge
Alice Gilbert . . . It was the Michi-
gan Cancer Foundation's Circle of
Fellows party hosted by this fine
couple at their Orchard Lake
home.
About 125 people enjoyed the
conviviality, graciousness and de-
licious hors d' oeuvres buffet plus
desserts prepared by Appe'teasers
in Milford . . . This - is the group
that was started few years back at
home of Doreen and David
Hermelin . . . It now has 200
members raising money for
cancer research.
Paul Zuckerman boasts of being
to Israel more than any other
American . . . 214 times . . . Last
trip to Europe, he hurt ankle in
Rome . . . Back in Detroit, wife
Helen took Paul to doctor . . . and
when outside, two nurses backed
up their car and hit Helen . . . She
was hospitalized and then Paul
had a miniature hospital set up at
their home . . . She was at the
Michigan Cancer Foundation af-
fair walking with a cane.
MCF is run by Dr. Michael
Brennan and four other doctors
. . . Actor Chad Everett, also
attending, was in Detroit for sev-
eral MCF appearances . . . Jimmy
Launce and beautiful, sweet wife,
Brigette, so happy over their new
home.

SHILA MORGANROTH .. .
better known as just Shila .. .
probably one of the top innovators
of hair styling and coloring in this
area turned a very young . . . but
highly experienced 43 last week
. . . Happy birthday, Shila . . . The
free-spirited gal with so much ta-
lent and ideas . . . many so far
ahead of their times . . . will ap-
pear on "Good Afternoon, Detroit"
Channel 7, 4 p.m. Thursday .. .
then on to more national recogni-
tion . . . the Phil Donahue Show
among others.
Effervescent Shila plies her
trade locally at the La Coupe
Salon in Drake Summit Plaza,
Walnut and Drake.
ONE OF THE Gunsberg
brothers' name left out of last
week's column was Louis, father
of George and Dick.
CONGRATS . . . to Edna and
Jerry Katz . . . on their 25th an-
niversary.

BEVERLY AND AL BETZ,
leaving for out-of-town the next
morning, went to Crescent
Shrine's Feather Party with Bev
saying, "Let's go just long enough
for me to win my prize" . . . Sure
enough, first bingo game brought
her a turkey . . . Like all gamblers
they stayed a while longer . . . and
Bev also won a fruit basket .. .
Couple of nice gifts to bring for
Thanksgiving to daughter and
son-in-law Anita and Joel
Waldman in Kansas City, Mo.

IT HAS BECOME A tradition
with Dimona Chapter of Pioneer
Women to celebrate Chanukah
with a "Dollars For David" lunch-
eon and musical program .. .
Frieda Faigin is president .. .
Monies collected help make a
happier Chanukah for Israel's
Davids and Dahlias.
The "Davids" and "Dahlias" of
Israel are children who have no
families with whom to celebrate
Chanukah . . . children living in
border settlements under con-
stant threat of war and violence
. . . orphans, or fatherless as a re-
sult of Israel's wars . . . or simply
children from disadvantaged
families.
Pioneer Women luncheon is
this Tuesday, 12 noon, at Sutton
Place Clubhouse . . . Songstress
Alice Blumberg will present a
musical program . . . Guests wel-
come . . . donation $6 . . . For

chairman and Elaine in charge of

game at Pontiac's Silverdome .. .
It "pits" Michigan State Spartans
against Army . . . and their
Kingsley Inn will have charter
bus service . . . plus 10 a.m.
brunch before the game.

FOLKTOWN ENDS its ten-
week series of top folk music with
Chuck Mitchell In Concert, Dec.
22, 8 p.m. . . . In the heyday of folk,
Chuck and then wife Joni were
favorites on the Detroit cof-
feehouse circuit . . . Chuck later
wowed audiences at the former
Raven Gallery in Southfield .. .
Since moving to live along the
Mississippi, he rarely performs in
this area.
Folktown, sponsored jointly by
Cultural Arts Division and South-
field Parks and Recreation Dept.
. . . is held on the north side of
Southfield Civic Center in Parks
and Rec. building, Evergreen Rd.
and Civic Center Dr. (10 1/2 Mile
