/2 cup Parkay margarine
1% cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp.. vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsps. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
ih tsp. ground cloves
1 /2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 cup buttermilk
Fluffy "Philly" Frosting
Beat margarine and sugar until
light and fluffy. Blend in eggs and
vanilla. Add combined dry ingre-
dients alternately with butter-
milk, mixing well after each addi-
tion. Pour into two greased and
floured 9-inch layer pans. Bake at
350 degrees, 30 to 3 minutes or
until wooden pick inserted in cen-
ter comes out clean. Cool 10 min-
utes; remove from pans. Cool.
Split each cake layer into two
layers. Spread each layer with
Fluffy "Philly" Frosting; stack.
Chill. Store in refrigerator. Yield:
12-14 servings.
FLUFFY "PHILLY" FROST-
ING
2 8-oz pkgs. Philadelphia
Brand cream cheese, sof-
tened
lfx cup sugar
2 tsps. vanilla
2 cups whipping cream, whip-
ped
Combine cream cheese, sugar
and vanilla, mixing until well
blended. Fold in whipped cream.

This Golden Spice Torte, top, and these sour cream date drops can be
made with Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese.

ZESTY TOSSED SALAD
1 can (8 oz.) Del Monte tomato
sauce
1 /4 cup oil
2 tbsps. red wine vinegar

1 /4 tsp. grated lime peel
2 tbsps. lime juice
1 small clove garlic, minced
1 /4 tsp. onion powder
1 /4 tsp. hot pepper sauce
11/2 qts. torn iceberg lettuce
1 cup thinly sliced cucumber
1 cup tomato wedges
1 /2 cup red onion sliced, cut in
half
1 /2 cup slivered green pepper
Combine tomato sauce, oil, vin-
egar, lime peel, juice, garlic, onion
powder and hot pepper sauce; mix
well. Combine lettuce, cucumber,
tomato, onion and green pepper.
Add tomato dressing; toss to coat
evenly. yield: 6 servings.

SCANDINAVIAN
RYE BREAD
2 pkgs. active dry yeast
2 cups warm water (105-115
degrees)
cup Brer Rabbit light molas-
ses
2 tbsps. grated orange peel
1 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. anise or fennel seed (op-
tional)
3 cups rye flour
1 /4 cup shortening, melted
3 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Soften yeast in water. Add
molasses, orange peel, salt, anise.
Stir in rye flour and shortening;
beat until smooth. Mix in remain-
ing flour to form a stiff dough.
Turn out on lightly floured sur-
face and knead until smooth and
elastic (about 5 minutes). Place in
lightly greased bowl; turn once to
grease surface. Cover and let rise
in warm place until double (about
1 1/2 hours).
Punch down. Divide dough into
two balls; shape each into an oval
loaf. Cover and let rise on greased
baking sheet in warm place until
doubled (about 1 hour). Bake at
