Meir Rosenne, Israel's Ambas-
sador to the United States, will
meet with Metro Detroit Jewish
community leaders at a private
Israel Bond luncheon here at noon
Wednesday it was announced by
D. Dan Kahn, local chairman of
State of Israel Bonds.
Invitees to the luncheon will in-
clude all local members and
potential members of the
President's Club, the Prime
Minister's Club and th -Ambas-
sador's Society of Trustees, the
three top categories of Israel's
honor societies, for 1984..

The President's Club is com-
posed of men and women who pur-
chase $100,000 or more in Israel
Borids during the current year to
help assure the strengthening of
Israel's economic infrastructure.
The Prime Minister's Club honors
purchasers of $25,000 or more; the
Ambassador's Society of Trustees
honors those who purchase
$10,000 or more.
Local President's Club chair-
man is Ivan Bloch, who also is na-
tional Israel Bonds special proj-
ects chairman. Local PMC
president is Douglas A. Schubot;
local AST president is Spencer M.
Partrich. Since the first of this
year, more than 125 Detroiters
have become eligible for member-
ship in the prestigious interna-
tional clubs.
Prior to assuming his current
post, Rosenne served as Isarel's
ambassador to France. He served
as a key participant in all the
negotiations leading to the Camp
David peace treaty between Israel
and Egypt in 1979, and was legal
adviser to the Israeli Foreign
Ministry between 1971 and 1979.
In government service since
1956, he served as consul of Israel
in New York, 1961-1967, and was
coordinator of the Israel Atomic
Energy Commission from 1969 to
1971.
He represented Israel for many
years at the Human Rights Corn-
mission of the United Nations and
at the International Conference of
the Red Cross. He is senior lec-
turer on the law faculty of the He-
brew University and a member of
the National Council of the Bar
Association in Israel, and of the
American and Israel Societies of
International Law.
Born in Romania in 1931, he
emigrated to Israel in 1944 and
participated in the War of Inde-
pendence at age 17, then studied
at the Sorbonne in Paris where he
received his Ph.D. degree in in-
ternational law.
